Our Team

The managerial and technical team for Cycad is made up of seasoned industry experts with quite a diverse technical experience and background varying from events conceptualization and implementation, hospitality, technical productions, commercialization and sponsorship of sports, recreational and entertainment events. Below is the table summarizing the various levels of technical and managerial expertise of the CYCAD team.

THALITHA MATHEBULA

Personal History

In her role as the Chairperson of the organization, Thalitha Mathebula is a seasoned entrepreneur, a leader with extensive business acumen built over years.

Thalitha Mathebula matriculated in 1989 at BaNkuna High, after completing her Matric she furthered her post-matric studies at the University of the North (now known as University of Limpopo) from 1990 to 1993 which she enrolled for her B.A.Ed. degree. She then worked at Magwagwaza High School as an Educator between 1994 and 2003.

Thalitha also studied a Diploma in Human Resources Management at the Rand Afrikaans University (now known as the University of Johannesburg) between 1996 and 1998. She then went on and work at Rustenburg Local Municipality from 2005 to 2008 in a Learnership for Construction Management NQF4. From 2008 to date, Thalitha Mathebula is a business woman who owns a very successful Mlaki Transport.

Duties and responsibilities

Thalitha Mathebula’s background is in human capital management where she has demonstrated her people skills in her current transport and logistics business and her experience will add value in designing the logistics requirements around the infrastructure that will be acquired as this forms part of the strategic component of the business given the nature of the events and hospitality sector and the market where CYCAD Hospitality and Events will be operating.

Thalitha Mathebula is well equipped with the current trends in the infrastructure and logistics/transport business and will be responsible with the strategic acquisition of the required infrastructure and designing the logistics model of the entire business.

She will also be responsible for giving the strategic direction of the business by scanning the environment, identify new trends and craft the strategic trajectory of the organization to ensure sustainability and competitive edge.

THALITHA MATHEBULA

AUGUSTINE NETHONONDA

Personal History

Augustine Nethononda is a seasoned campaigner in the industry who brings a wider diverse skills packages and expertise to the organization, who has worked for companies like Multichoice Africa, the SABC, SAIL Sports & Entertainment, FIFA 2010 SA Local Organising Committee (City of Tshwane 201 FIFA FanFest Project Director) and now as the Founder and Director of 3rd Level Marketing and Media Group and Founder of the Annual Tshivenda Music Awards. Augustine Nethononda also serves as non-executive board of directors at various organization, namely MAVU Sports Development where he’s currently the convener of its Marketing and Media & broadcast portfolio, Lambani Community Farming Project, Grandiose Footprint NPC and Blue Moon Community Development NPC.

A graduate of the University of Venda from 1993-1995 where he completed his BA degree and later enrolled for the Post-Graduate Diploma in Information Management at the Rand Afrikaans University (now known as the University of Johannesburg), Diploma in IT Management in 2000 and Advanced Diploma in Project Management in 2001 at Damelin College respectively. In 2002, he completed his Certificate in Microsoft X-Sim (Managing by Projects) at XPERT Academy and in 2004 he completed his Certificate in Essentials of Broadcast Management at Sol Plaatjie Media Leadership Institute – Rhodes University. In 2006 he studied Finance for Non-Finance Managers Programme at Wits Business School. Currently, Augustine Nethononda in completing his WIPO Intellectual Property Law Specialization Programme with the University of South Africa (UNISA).

While working for the SABC, Augustine was also tasked with additional responsibilities of being a team leader (Chef de Mission) for the SABC’s broadcast Team at major international and continental events like the 2006 World Cup in Germany, 2007 All Africa Games in Algeria, 2008 AFCON in Ghana as well as the 2008 Beijing Olympics in China.

Duties and responsibilities

Augustine’s unparalleled track record and experience in conceptualizing and managing small to mega events, local and international will come in handy to the organization.

As the Deputy Chairperson, his networking skills and access to various stakeholders in the industry will also add value to the growth of the organization. He will also assist in formulating strategies around the commercial deliverables as well as all the marketing elements of the organization. His financial background in budgets and financial management will also be key.

AUGUSTINE NETHONONDA

PETER MOKGOTHO

Personal History

Peter Mokgotho has functioned as a leader in Executive, Project Management and Development Consulting capacities. He is a strategic thinker with broad-based expertise in senior planning and analysis, multi-industry project management, management consulting, working with small, medium and large companies. He holds a National Diploma in Commerce from the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) and General Management Programme Certificate, Business School Netherlands (BSN). Peter is a seasoned management strategist, skilled director, leader and team player with the ability to deliver solutions.

Personal History

Sello Hendrick Tembo matriculated in 1992 at Makhutjisha High School and went further and acquire formal training skills in 2000 where he completed his Certificate in Construction at Skills Academy type of qualification. Sello went on and completed a Certificate in Construction Contracting at CETA.
After completion of his studies, Sello worked at various sectors including being the Project Manager for Educational Guidance and other Services between 1998 and 2004. Sello also worked at Mokgophong Local Municipality as the Communications Officer in the Office of the Mayor from 2005-2007.

  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Assist in the logistical and operationalization of the venue temporary infrastructure
  • Handle all events compliance issues
  • Be responsible for safety and security issues of the events

Personal History
